If ever an African leader showed the wisdom of a King Solomon, then that man is Morgan Richard Tsvangirai. Like the biblical king before him, he adjudged that the party who would rather save the baby, in this case Zimbabwe, rather than win (power) at any cost, would demonstrate who has the true love for […]

Zimbabwe: Nursery Rhymes to celebrate a run-off victory
Robert Mugabe, underpinned by a South African government and a mediation team seemingly determined to keep him in power (come on guys don’t be bashful), is celebrating the MDC’s decision to withdraw from the run-off. This in essence means that both countries (now lepers of the world community) will be able to claim their rewards […]
Viva the revolution — when is it, Mr Malema?
How would you feel if someone threw a revolution and nobody came? Yeah, me too — awful, isn’t it? According to ANCYL president Julius Malema: “The forces we defeated in 1994, the ultra-rightwing, the imperialists and the colonisers. They have come together to undermine the ushering in of a democratic dispensation. They do this by […]
Mess um Dorma: SA (14) 26, Italy (0) 0
This was ugly rugby, played in atrocious conditions. Stop, start, stop. Horrible stuff. Not that I’m criticising the endeavour or willingness of the two sides to give it a go; far from it. Italy, as any side fielded by Nick Mallett, gave it their all and were willing to die for the cause (perhaps the […]
Was the Holocaust inevitable?
Patrick J Buchanan believes Britain lost its empire and acted as a catalyst for the Holocaust by engaging with Germany in two unnecessary world wars. He lays much of the blame at the doorstep of Winston Churchill, but for whom it could all have been so different. In an article for Human Events he alleges: […]

Our Father who aren’t in Zimbabwe, Hello remove thy Bob
Mad Bob has taken the insanity in Zimbabwe to new levels, claiming that only God can remove him from office and he won’t be leaving until he is sure that Zimbabwe is safely in the hands of the black majority. The United Nations Commissioner for Refugees meanwhile is estimating that neighbouring countries are about to […]
Zimbabwe is not an election, it’s a hostage drama
With the news of President Mbeki calling on Mugabe and Tsvangirai to meet and avoid continuation of the violence engineered by Robert Mugabe, Zanu-PF and their allies, I couldn’t help but admire the no-nonsense approach of African reporters. Andre Le Roux of the Beeld, whose headline I stole, sums it up — this is not […]
All Blacks’ first-aid choke remedy
Last night on Will Carling’s site Rucku.com, I politely asked a bunch of New Zealand rugby supporters to kindly lend me a hand with my son’s school project. In return I was told in no uncertain terms what I could do with my son and his project. I mean what is the point of people […]
Sick and tired of footballer’s “Wags”
Aren’t you sick and tired of wading through the Sun newspaper and reading all that garbage about this player’s girlfriend and that one’s wife? FFS, and then having to sift through those ridiculous slideshows of these women?! Last night, for example, I was going through the article on Abbey Clancy who is Peter Crouch’s girlfriend. […]
Mann overboard: Coup involved Thatcher, Spain and South Africa
Simon Mann told a court in Equatorial Guinea that not only was Sir Mark Thatcher a part of the failed coup, he was one of the ringleaders. He also confirmed: “By January 2004, the operation was like an official operation because the Spanish government and the South African government were both giving the green light,” […]
Shoot magazine to close
When I was a young lad (leave it) one of the highlights of my week was popping down to the CNA for a copy of Shoot magazine, the weekly football publication from England. That, along with my copy of Tiger and Roy of the Rovers were things that I ensured were never to be missed. […]
