As Cape Town experiences its first real chill in months, I’d like to reflect on the pros and cons of summer …
Pros:
Long days, with balmy evenings.
The brief window of opportunity to swim in the sea without losing all feeling in your limbs.
Fabulous fruit (peaches, grapes and nectarines are my favourites).
Christmas holidays.
Riding my scooter in the sunshine.
Cons:
Suffocating heat that makes you feel like your head might explode.
The deluge of tourists and the ensuing crazy traffic.
The near-unbearable wind some days.
Sunstroke, sweating, sunburn.
Riding my scooter in the wind.
What say you? Is summer a pro or a con? Are you happy to see it go, or starting to panic?
Summery? Wintery? Let’s take a poll.
