Can You Twist is South Africa’s first online reality show featuring six of the country’s hottest young female storytellers … and your votes. Six weeks, six women, six twists and one ultimate winner!”

How could I resist? How could anyone?

To be honest, though, it wasn’t the online reality-show line that got me. Nor being described as one of the “country’s hottest young female storytellers” (although I am wondering why FHM or Men’s Health haven’t called me for a photo shoot yet; don’t men like hot young storytellers?).

Nope, it was none of that.

Rather, it was the twist.

You see, this is not just six women writing stories that are released online every day for six weeks. It’s also six real-life twists happening across the country.

What am I on about? Well.

Today is the beginning of the third week and (what do you know), the beginning of my short story’s week of fame. Every day this week the next chunk of story will be released, culminating in the finale (and twist) on Friday. What makes it interesting, though, is that the twist that happens in the story also happens in real life. Last week there was a newspaper ad/break-up in the story, and in actual newspapers. The week before, a few lucky ladies were handed bunches of flowers at Vida stores countrywide. But this week’s twist is going to be far more interesting …

More than that I cannot say!

You’ll have to go to www.canyoutwist.com to find out. And register. And hopefully vote for me on Friday … The votes can be “yes” or “no” (hence the reality-show vibe) and there’s a grand prize at the end. And the title of South Africa’s hottest young female storyteller, which we all know is worth its weight in gold!
