The SA Blog Awards 2008 have produced an impressive (and somewhat daunting!) list of finalists in various categories. You can see them all at: http://www.sablogawards.com/2008/
I haven’t had a chance to go through them all yet (will anyone ever have a chance to go through them all?) but I do have a couple of favourites already … Here they are:
Best blog of the year: I’m sticking with my praise of Sarocks.co.za (despite the flurry of anti-South-African comment it produced when I last wrote about it.) Simply, it’s all about the good things about living in South Africa.
Best original writing: Fellow Thought Leader Ivo Vegter writes cuttingly. Always thought-provoking.
Best post of the year: I’ve heard a lot about Mushy Peas on Toast, but never read it till this post. Hilarious!
Best green blog:Urban Sprout is informative, but not preachy, and makes you look like you know a lot about environmental matters.
Best undiscovered blog: For fresh, honest and sincere writing, check out Amandasaunders.blog.com.
Best South African personal blog: There was a certain post on Tertia.org that made me fall in love with this blog. I won’t say what it’s about; I will say it was posted on February 20 2008 and you should go and check it out!
(And then there’s the category for best new blog, where my personal blog — Blog.bridgetmcnulty.com — has been nominated. And that’s all I’m going to say.)
Of course, if all this blog talk makes you sick, you can take a look at this extremely funny post on Trash Media about the ridiculousness of the awards.
