But after a whole weekend of training to be a laughter yoga leader (which is less hippy-ish than it sounds, I promise!), I have to admit laughter is pretty profound.
Here are a few of my favourite things about laughter yoga:
It forces you to breathe deeply and get rid of all the stale oxygen in your lungs.
It’s a fantastic cardio workout, but you don’t notice you’re exercising.
You get to act like a kid and rediscover your inner playfulness.
At first the laughter is more of an exercise, but it soon becomes real belly-laughs.
There is a heavenly yoga relaxation at the end of each session that makes you float away …
My main purpose in doing the training was so that I can take it to children’s homes, to kids who are otherwise not having much of a childhood. But I can honestly say the experience was pretty extraordinary in and of itself. I think laughter yoga might be a force to reckon with!
