I’ve come out of hiding to whisper in your ear about a little website called FreeRice.

For every vocab word you guess right, it donates 20 grains of rice throughout the United Nations to help end world hunger. A lofty goal, but a pretty fun one to help achieve (if you’re a dorky word person, as I am).

You get to test your vocabulary, and you get to see a pile of rice accumulating. Let me tell you, it’s pretty satisfying to see 3 000 grains of rice in a pictorial mound, knowing that in real life they might actually fill a bowl or two!

There’s also a competitive edge to it — they keep score of how well you’re rating against your best score.

All in all, exciting stuff.

And you’re feeding the hungry, grain by grain.

I challenge you to a game of Free Rice! Are you up for it?
