These are a few of my favourite, can’t-resist-dancing songs. (It’s Friday! Lighten up!)

  • I Feel it All by Leslie Feist. A new acquisition (just got it this week), but totally irresistible. Great beat, fantastic lyrics, and it’ll get stuck in your head and never, ever, ever leave. Best line? “I know more than I’m known for.”
  • Mint Car by The Cure. “The sun is up, I’m so happy I could scream. And there’s nowhere else in the world I’d rather be.” What a statement to the world! Add in The Cure’s wild joyfulness and you’ve got the theme tune for my teenage years.
  • Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves. Yes, it’s cheesy. That’s the beauty of it. It’s so boppy and silly and fun, you can’t help singing along and doing a little shimmy. “Now every time I go for the mailbox, I gotta hold myself down.” Classic!
  • For the Price of a Cup of Tea by Belle and Sebastian. Belle and Sebastian are one of the enduring loves of my musical life, but this track in particular is infectious. It’s the rhythm, the words, the whole happy mix all together. Favourite line? “She took her winter coat from her plastic wrapper, pushed back her fringe, see her birthmark. She can finally be the person she wanted to be.”

Anyone have something to add to the list?

It has to be instant feel-good, that’s the only rule …
