With about 70% of the vote counted and the ANC headed for another landslide victory the vast majority of South Africans have confirmed that regardless of the views of those who oppose the presidency of Jacob Zuma he is undoubtedly the people’s overwhelming choice. Love him – which clearly most of the country does – […]

Malema promises a toy-toy with every Nando’s full chicken peri-peri
Apparently ANC youth league president Julius Malema wasn’t too upset about the Nando’s advert which portrays him as a puppet explaining how every time you purchase at Nando’s you get a whole bunch of change. Indeed, so the ad goes, the more money you hand over the more “change” you get. A pun on political […]
IPL Twenty20 shows South Africans what the world thinks of us
I’m sure that by the time you read this I will be either undergoing my operation or sleeping off the anaesthetic — possibly on the morphine drip (YES!! — top stuff). Notwithstanding I would like to once again thank you all very much for your kind words at this time. In respect of emails my […]
Egoli or Isidingo ate your baby?
Since I’ve been confined to quarters with a strictly no-politics-until-the-operation policy, I’ve been forced – trust me – to watch all the television programmes that the government (Mrs Traps) feels are appropriate at this time. As some of my regulars may recall this is the same woman that force-fed me Big Brother Africa III, Idols […]
ANC can give you a heart attack
In the late evening of the 31st March 2009 I suffered a major heart attack and was admitted early the following morning to the intensive care unit of the Linksfield Clinic in Johannesburg. At 48 years of age and despite my lifestyle it took me by surprise I can tell you. While I thought it […]
Zuma is innocent until proven guilty. Time to start the election.
Whether or not a cloud hangs over ANC president Jacob Zuma, he is innocent until he is proven guilty in a court of law. This obviously relates to the legal position and not the court of public opinion. The fact of the matter is that regardless of the brouhaha that has arisen from the methods […]
British anti-terror chief quits in disgrace while NIA plans to visit Grace
In order to give you some indication of how seriously most countries take matters of national security look no further than the British head of anti-terror, Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick who quit in disgrace after arriving for a Downing Street meeting yesterday with top-secret files on a bomb plot under his arm. As he wandered […]
Moseneke, the man for all seasons
While Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke has never refused ANC president Jacob Zuma the right to marry whomsoever he pleases he may well have submitted a report to former president Mbeki regarding a certain Zimbabwean president’s less than lawful “Act of Succession”. Regardless Moseneke this morning must know what it feels like to be a […]
First Zuma and now Hlophe linked to NIA leaks
“Cape Judge President John Hlophe seemed to have access to confidential notes circulated between judges of the Constitutional Court, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) heard today. Hlophe had also boasted to Justice Bess Nkabinde about obtaining a list of people implicated in the multi-billion dollar government arms deal from the National Intelligence Agency, she said. […]
Zuma’s unanswered questions
“The charges against Zuma were dropped on the grounds that there was collusion between Leonard McCarthy, the former head of the Directorate of Special Operations (DSO), and former NPA boss Bulelani Ngcuka. This was after among others, transcripts of telephone calls between the two men were investigated and found to amount to manipulation and abuse […]
Holier than thou just sucks!
I don’t know how many of you have seen the footage of Solomon Mahlangu’s final walk to his execution at Pretoria Central on April 6 1979 but I personally found it very disturbing. Even though I was already an attorney while the death penalty was still in force I was fortunate enough during the murder […]
ANC and Zuma are not above the law, for them there is no law
As the gutless wonder Mokotedi Mpshe clearly demonstrated, as far as the ANC are concerned there is no law applicable to the party or to those considered of value. Indeed if any of them are charged this only results in everyone running around like headless chickens screaming about how they are being persecuted. It certainly […]
