The Mail & Guardian on Sunday reported that the chairperson and commissioner of the IPL, Lalit Modi, had broken bail conditions and was involved in a number of troubling legal confrontations upon his return to India. My question therefore is how dare they have allowed him to travel to South Africa in the first place?
How dare they have imposed upon us one of the greatest cricket tournaments we have witnessed in ages?
How dare they force us to leave work early in case we miss a single ball?
How dare those Indian captains behave like the wonderful ambassadors they are?
How dare they treat us to eight superb teams who daily went toe-to-toe?
How dare SuperSport force us to listen to wonderful commentary teams like Ramiz Raja, Robin Jackman, Pommie (you de man) Mbangwa and Danny Morrison?
How dare they foist Bollywood competitions, fireworks, education trusts and the like upon us?
How dare they make the months of April and May so special?
How dare they allow Modi, a true gentleman in South Africa, worry about his return?
It’s a disgrace with the following punishment being suggested:
Modi and the IPL to be forced to remain in South Africa indefinitely or until we have decided on a suitable punishment around the turn of the next century.
It’s the least they can do.
Thank you IPL and everyone connected to the tournament it really was something extra special.
