It’s quite simple. Imagine if the plan was never to oust Mbeki in favour of Zuma, but in fact to put Malema in place as our president from the beginning?!

Why not do it straight away then you ask? To put Malema against Mbeki would have seemed ludicrous. I mean, Mbeki is practically an “agent”. He got trendy towards the end of his term, had a makeover and his education obviously separated him from a Malema.

So, the next best thing was to put in someone a little less credible so that when judgement day arrived, Malema could step up with popular support behind him. The ANC probably met, thought, who do we have who does a good jig, is a charmer and is a little less credible than Juju. It probably didn’t take them long to think of Zuma. I mean, his laugh is a good sign that he’s not always quite sure what you’re saying, but he knows that if it’s bad it’s off with your head Lewis Carrol style.

So he stepped in, drop kicked Mbeki out of the melee and with him came his trusty sidekick Malema. Suddenly the spotlight was all on Juju. He had his chance in the limelight. Two years on and he’s ready to start stepping up to the great big show that is the presidency. The more silly things he says, the more Zuma looks like he doesn’t have the authority to control the party.

Who does look like he has the control — Juju (albeit crazy mind control and fascism).

So friends, we’re in for an interesting spectacle. It looks like Zuma has had a change of heart and decided not to press internal ANC charges against Malema for bringing the ANC into disrepute. His power is crumbling before our eyes.

The stage is set for Malema’s debut. It’s all clear now.

It’s unfortunate that the run-up had to be an absurdist comedy that many of us didn’t get. Hopefully if conspiracy becomes reality we don’t spend the rest of our days waiting for the Godot that is another credible political leader for our country.
