So in 2011 you cannot beat your kid, cannot speak frankly to another adult, even if they consent to it, cannot compliment a female colleague, or even solicit sartorial advice from a gay colleague.

Why? Because why (as they say in the die Oss Rand) we have allowed the PC brigade to dictate our lives, that’s why. Now they’ve grown bold enough to attack territory they would never have dared to in a saner age. Porn and crude humour in the military. Yessir, your boys in uniform can now no longer choose their methods of legal amusement while out putting their bodies on the line for their country.

It may only be in the US, but as well all know, what that increasingly nancified society adopts, the rest of the world follows suit, all in the name of “standards”, of course. A scandal is brewing in the US over the showing of a video on the USS Enterprise (no, seriously) meant to provide humour and boost the morale of men and women out at seas for months at a time.

The video contains as you would expect in the military, lewd scenes, innuendo and language. Women, homosexuals, masturbation and others all come in for abuse. All in good humour of course, but that is as we have come to expect, not good enough for the PC extremists. The commanding officer of the ship, Captain Owen Honors (you couldn’t make that up), has been temporarily relieved (stop sniggering at the back there Traps) of his post while an investigation is under way into the video.

The video covers what Capt Honors himself describes as “racy topics”. It includes scenes such as two female sailors simulating a thorough scrubbing in a shower. And this has apparently been deemed to be inappropriate and offensive. Even for people risking life and limb in their daily duties.

The next tyranny people, it is upon us.
