I found myself writing a very serious and cliché ridden New year’s message. Yammering on about crime, violence, optimism, the World Cup, etc.

Instead I will cut myself short and say just this — have fun, work hard, do unto others. Most importantly be an active, vigilant citizen. The politicians will not sort this country out the way we want it, left to their own devices.

We need to take the lead. Let’s all endeavour to be leaders in 2011. And let’s try have at least one (consensual) orgasm a day. I wager that would make our days, and those of other people, just a tad more bearable. If I am wrong, well, at least something good came from it.

Happy New Year South Africa.
