SuperSport United have proved their dominance in the the Absa Premiership, winning the league championship three times in a row. They have proved beyond any reasonable doubt that they are the best team in the South African league at the moment. Before their local league becomes boring, they need to start putting a serious challenge for the African Champions League title.

It has been a while since South africa had any joy in the African Champions League, for a number of years now, we have failed to produce a local team that can stand their ground against the best club sides that the continent has to offer. Because of that, our national team has suffered. Orlando Pirates crashed out of the tournament last week, but in Amatsatsatsa a Pitori, we have a team that is capable enough to go far in this tournament.

Looking at their squad, it is clear to see that SuperSport United have the potential to go all the way and conquer Africa; they have a solid team that is full of talented youngsters and seasoned professionals, most of whom are internationals both for Bafana bafana and their respective countries. In Gavin Hunt they have a very good and ambitious coach, i believe he would relish the opportunity of challenging for the most coveted trophy for club sides in Africa, he has already made history by becoming the first coach to win the Premiership three times in a row, so winning the African Champions league will be a cherry on top for him.

When Pirates won the Cup in 1995, they had a strong squad of committed players, those players played their hearts out for their club and country, they were not only representing their team, but they were representing millions of South africans, when they won it the whole nation was celebrating, SuperSport United can bring back those glory days, its time for Hunt and his boys to go hunting for the Champions League trophy.
